Nocturnal protests erupted in Kashmir University campus late Thursday night after the news about the killngs of militants in an encounter at Nowgam spread.

Local sources said that scores of students from different hostels marched towards the Allama Iqbal library and staged “anti India and pro freedom” protests.

They said that students raised “pro-Pakistan and pro-militant” slogans. They later marched through the campus and dispersed peacefully.

Pertinently, two Lashkar militants, including its commander Abu Ismail were killed in a brief shootout with forces on city outskirts.

Ismail, police said was a prime accused in the Amarnath bus attack that left seven dead.
